Canberra, Sydney Perth

First I would like to go to Canberra to see my Auntie, Liz,my uncle, Mike, and my cousin, Adam.

Then I would like to go to Sydney to see the Opera House and to go and see me cousin, Kate.

Finally, I would like to go to Perth to go swimming with dolphins.

It would be a very long journey. I would go to London first and then take a flight for about a day.

My sport weekend

This weekend I beat my record of bicycle. I made 39 kilometres in the Canal du Midi. It was on Thursday. I saw a green lizard in my way.

On Friday I made judo with my brother.

On saturday I climbed a entire mountain in the Pyrenees. I was walking 5 hours. I climbed 800 metres.

A Hoopoe in my garden!

On Saturday night, I looked out into my garden and saw a beautiful bird with lovely black spots with a pink tinge, it had a long thin nose and a strange spotted plumage on it's head.

We took a picture and looked it up in our garden bird book. It turns out that this is a very rare bird that usually lives in Britain but can be found in the South of France during nesting times. This bird is called a 'Hoopoe' I have put a picture of this bird in my blog and also the actual picture of the bird we saw in my garden.

Great barrier reef of Australia

I would like to go to the barrier reef of Australia.  There are lots and lots of animals I would like to see.  Black tip reef sharks hunting fish, turtles, crabs and cone shells are things that I would like to find.

I love snorkelling and catching crabs.  One day I would like to scuba diving with my mum and dad.  

This is a whale shark.  I would like to go snorkelling or scuba diving with one.  They are safe to swim with because they only eat plankton, krill and small fish.

The light blue line is the entire barrier reef photographed from space.   It is 2,300 km long and has 900 islands.

Varjak Paw rap

We've been writing rap lyrics for one of the cats in Varjak Paw. Although we've all come up with individual lyrics, here's one that Mr Gregg put together starting with those by children in 4G:

Marble racing to determine a liquid's viscosity

To determine the viscosity of various liquids: milk, lemonade, orange juice, vegetable oil, washing up liquid, shower gel and tomato ketchup we measured the time it took for a marble to reach the bottom of a filled cylinder.

 

To everyone’s surprise, when dropped into the ketchup, the marble simply sat on the surface! We have decided to leave this over the long weekend so see if there is any change on Monday....................

Scaling up recipes

Today we made...

Chocolate Cornflake Cakes

These were the ingredients (to make 4 cupcakes):

· 17g butter
· 33g milk or dark chocolate, broken into chunks
· 1 tablespoon golden syrup
· 33g cornflakes

But we wanted to make 12 cupcakes so we scaled it up by about three times:

· 50g butter
· 100g milk or dark chocolate, broken into chunks
· 2 tablespoon golden syrup
· 100g cornflakes

Making airports in the playground

We've continued our look at the naming of runways in the playgound today. We used a compass to find out which direction north was, then we made sure the runways we created had the right headings on them.

My favourite destination

I choose this place because i think it is amazing.  

I would like to see aurora borealis. I would also like to see polar bear, penguins, igloos, how ice fall down in the sea.

I expect to sleep in an igloo and ride a dogsled.
