Anansi and the Magic Berry

Machu Picchu (Peru, South America)

Machu Picchu is an ancient city situated in Peru, South America. Machu Picchu means “Old Peak” in Spanish. The city was built about 500 years ago by the Inca people. It is the largest tourist attraction in South America and some people also say its also one of the 7 wonders of the world.

Its situated in the Andes mountain range. The Andes stretch all the way down South America, forming the world’s longest mountain range. The people and animals that line in the Andes are used to the cold, thin air.

Machu Picchu is famous for its dry-stone walls, its famous structure among being the “Temple of the Sun”. I came across about this in one of the episodes of Tin Tin (“Le Temple Du Soleil”) and I was interested to visit this land of Inca people.

We can see lot of Llamas dwelling in the city. A llama is like a tall sheep. People in the Andes Mountain keep them for their warm wool, for their milk and meat, and for carrying cargo.

To go to this place from Toulouse, one could take a flight to Madrid and from there fly to Lima, the capital city of Peru. From Lima, there are trains and roads that take people to Machu Picchu.

 

 

 

Goldie’s bird of paradise

This bird is very beautiful because it has vibrant pretty feathers. I like my bird as it has plumes that are one of my favourite colours.

What makes the bird phenomenal?

My bird has a green throat which I like yet it sometimes shines.It has bright red feathers dangling down from a tree.The males always attract the females since they are more beautiful than the females.


                                         What it eats & Where it's found?

The Goldie's bird of paradise eat mostly fruits and mini beasts. They can be found in Papua New Guinea in the hills and forests.

Endangered animals - Tiger

The tiger is the national animal of India. The total tiger population is just around 2200 in India  but it is decreasing and facing extinction due to various reasons such as hunting and deforestation. Though it is considered as endangered, the government has made efforts to conserve reserves and protect the tigers by increasing security.

I've lived in three countries: India, the USA and France. The American flag:

I always liked green,

Green is the colour of the rainforest,

In the noon I hear the snakes hissing,

I rapidly run to a tree and pretend that I’m resting,

I often softly crunch my bananas,

Now slowly the rain drops were falling from the canopy,

Sometimes the buttresses are really soggy,

I squawk when I hear something fierce,

I hear the vegetation crackle and rustle,

I sometimes see the tribes walking by,

But I run away,

The rain falls and the wind blows,

All alone I go to find more fruits,

I go to my family and live there again;

This is my favourite place to live in.

My Winter Break Vacation

We did not do the usual thing of visiting a place during this winter break. We decided to stay in Toulouse. In fact we wanted to visit some places but as my dad said he has a problem with this passport, we decided to stay in France. He also said there is no point to travel anywhere in France as it was cold and Toulouse is more warmer than other places.

We still had a good time in the break. We did Christmas shopping for all of us in the family, My dad bought a new tablet, my mom bought some clothes, me and my sister bought some toys that we long wanted and some clothes as well.

My day always wondered whether he bought the new tablet for himself or for me and my sister. We loaded plenty of new games in the tablet (like minion rush, subway surfers, temple run, mr crab, pitfall) and started playing.

The other thing that I did during the break was to improve on my language skills. I read some books on French.

My father got to see me do some creative looming when he got me the rainbow loom set. I made some chains, bracelets, Christmas stockings, and so on. I had a good company with me, as my friend Aaryaa from year 6 joined me in this activity.

I long wanted to learn the "hoola hoop". Thanks to my dad, I bought a hoola hoop and also learnt to do the swings. I tried to teach my sister as well, but she did not try as she was not comfortable with it. She will perhaps learn this later.

I thought we may not have a good vacation but we really had a relaxing and exciting one.

My Christmas Present

As usual every Christmas I get a gift and this time I got a Diary and a pen. I have it like a secret diary. For my pen I made something in rainbow loom and it looks really good. I’m going to bring my pen every day to school. My dad used to always say to me that I’m very aristic, so I asked him to get me some loom bands and that’s how I made my rainbow loom thing for my pen. Everyone in my family liked that best among all the  rainbow loom things that I have made. I even made a Christmas stocking in loom bands, braclets, necklaces, a pencil holder and so on. I did many things in loom bands watching in You Tube.

A king and his servant

A very long time ago there lived a king in his palace. He had a servant, a very helpful servant indeed. One day the king had a lot of work to do. There was a lot of mess to clean up. The king ordered his servant to tidy up the mess. When he had cleaned up the mess he was feeling very tired so left the job. The king was very sad about it. One day somewhere near his palace a poor man was living there. He asked if he could be his servant. The king agreed.

The young lady's adventure

At the shimmer of dark there was a lady. The lady was going to the Halloween party in a very dark place. She also had a sister. When she came back her sister was asleep because it was night time. When she slept she had a nightmare. When she woke up she was very scared because of her nightmare. So she told her sister about her dream.

“In my dream I was on a vase. All around me there were scary creatures like birds, things with three eyes and above me there were two big eyes looking like an owl.”

The Magic School Bus and Frozen

The Magic School Bus – All about earth

This week I watched the DVD of Magic School Bus which my Aunt sent me some time ago. It has an episode called ‘Blows its top’. It shows what it is like inside the earth, inside volcanoes and how islands are formed by volcanoes. Ms. Frizzle and her class explore the inside of the earth through a magical school bus that transforms itself so that it could travel inside earth and also go on the lava. This is fun to watch – it reminded me of volcano that Mr. Gregg showed us in the pitch. I am excited to see the real one in Vulcania next week.

I think we have a book of the same title in our library.
Frozen - Movie

I finally saw this movie after several of my friends told me that is a very good movie to watch. This is the story of two sisters Elsa and Anna. Elsa has magical powers to freeze and turn anything she touches into ice and it causes problems for Anna and people of their kingdom Arendelle. But in the end Elsa controls her power and solve the problems. Elsa and Anna live together for ever very happy.

It is a good movie and I enjoyed watching it with my sister Ana (Ananya is her name and we sometimes call her Ana).
