Two weeks ago my mum gave us a poster with a kiwi on it. It was cut in half and you could see the inside of the bird (a bit like this picture), which showed the inside of a kiwi fruit. It was a clever and funny poster and I really liked it.

I looked up the kiwi in the internet and found out that the kiwi is a flightless bird native to New Zealand. At around the size of a domestic chicken, kiwis are by far the smallest living flightless birds (others are like ostriches, emus and penguins). They lay the largest egg in relation to their body size of any species of bird in the world. Kiwis are already endangered. Today they try to protect them in national parks.

Code Studio

In class these last few weeks we've been working on Course 2 on the code.org site.

We've completed Stage 1 and Stage 2 "unplugged", without computers. And we've been doing Stage 3 and Stage online.

Some of us didn't quite finish Stage 3 or Stage 4. If you're one of those, you can finish off these stages at home at your leisure.

Don't go any further though - we'll be doing the next stages at school.

Today, Saturday on our way back from the shops, we saw a Concorde plane.

Prime Climb again

We've been playing Prime Climb again in Year 4.

It's a great game where the aim is to get your pieces to number 101. You roll two dice, and you can add, subtract, divide or multiply the number you're on by one of the numbers rolled.

If you land on a prime number, you pick up one of the Prime Climb cards. Excitement mounts as the players get towards the centre, and we find it hard to stay in our seats!
